Charles Town Ghost Tours offers visitors six guided walking tours, each lasting two hours ~

Our Daytime Tours – Perfect for families and history lovers ~

The Charles Town History Tour covers the rich and diverse history of Charles Town, WV, the county seat of Jefferson County. Discover the true history behind our beautiful city, the glory and the darker underbelly. A walk for history lovers – not a ghost tour.

The Victorian Grave Art Tour is a fascinating look at 19th-century grave art and Victorian mourning practices. Focusing on the famous and not-so-noted residents and the intricate symbols on the stones which each tell a tale of the deceased. This is a perfect tour for history lovers, art lovers, and photographers. It also works as a team building tour.

The John Brown – After the Raid History Tour is a history tour unlike any other in America. From the Courthouse to the Jail to the Gallows. A tragic love story, two botched hangings, grave robbers and a mystery still unsolved.

Our Evening Tours ~ Bring on the Chills!

The Traditional Ghost Tour is the tour that started it all. This haunted walk covers the dark and eerie East side of Charles Town, including visits to three types of burial grounds.

The Cemetery Stroll is “simply spooky” cemeteries. A chilling walk through three burial grounds with terrifying tales.

The John Brown – After the Raid Ghost Tour – The horrors of the Raid on Harpers Ferry did not end there. Visit the haunted sites where Brown, six of his Raiders and their hostages spent their last few moments. Mystery, body snatching, botched hangings, and spirits.

Each tale on our tours is a true and documented account taken from historical records and personal interviews conducted by Ann Khiel Fern. No two tours are ever the same. 

Tour Season ~

Reservations are required for all tours. You may book a tour by calling – 681-296-2989.

Ticket Prices ~

Public tours are priced as follows ~

• $14 – Civilian
• $12 – Military, either active duty or retired
• $12 – First Responders

All Veterans, including active duty and retired Military, and all First Responders are honored on every public tour. As a special “Thank You!” for your service, your ticket is always only $12.

Private tours are priced at $18 for each person with a group of 4 to 9 people. A minimum of 4 people must book. Groups of 1 to 3 people can pay a flat price of $70 for a unique and specialized tour.

Parking is available at meters along E. Washington Street and surrounding streets. Meters are free after business hours. A metered parking lot is also located at the corner of South Charles Street and West Congress Street.

Meet at the S. Seminary Street entrance.

Parking is available along the road near the cemetery at the S. Seminary Street entrance. Parking inside the cemetery is not permitted.

Each tour lasts approximately two hours.

Tours are leisurely paced and accessible for both wheelchairs and scooters.

Bring comfortable shoes, a flashlight, a camera – and an open mind!
